Kenosha Academy of Dance, Music, Drama

Company K is the dance performance company of the Kenosha Academy of Dance, Music and Drama. We have both a senior company and a junior company. Company members are selected by auditioning each year and must follow certain dance requirements, in addition to attending rehearsals, performances and dance conventions. It's a lot of fun and the dancers get many opportunities to perform on stage.

In 2011, Company K peformed at the Kenosha Expo, Co. Dance Dance Convention, Hollywood Vibe Dance Convention, Great America Dance Fest, Relay for Life, and the Wisconsin State Fair.

Dance Company Criteria/Auditions

All dancers must be a Ballet 2 year 2 or higher level. Dance Performance Company is not recommended to dancers with only beginning dance experience.

Auditions
Auditions for Company K are held in the fall. Each dancer must audition in the age division he/she is on the day of auditions.

Company K Age Divisions:

Appropriate Audition Attire
Black Leotard with Black Dance Pants.  You may also wear a black leotard and pink tights. BOYS:  Black Dance Pants and a plain Black Tank Top or Black Fitted Shirt.

Hair MUST be pulled back for Auditions.

Company placement is based on technique and style, ability to pick up choreography, ability to dance within the group, and showmanship/stage presence.

Dance Company Commitment
Dance Company is a year long commitment starting in the fall and continuing through summer.  Dance Company members are required to take 3 dance classes per week – 2 ballet and 1 other (tap, jazz, hip hop, modern or musical theatre) this includes summer classes. Juniors must be Ballet 2 (year 2 and higher). Seniors must be Ballet 3 and higher.

Absences:
Each dancer is only allowed to miss 5 Dance Company rehearsals from Sept through the following August, no exceptions. The Artistic Director needs to receive notice of any absence at least 1 week before rehearsal. 

All dancers must attend all of their dance classes the week prior to a competition/performance, unless pre-excused due to illness/school/family function by the Artistic Director.  Make up classes may be required.

Dance Company Fees
Dance Company classes are held weekly for 2 hours. Fees are $50 p/month withdrawn with regular autopay tuition. There may be additional ticket fees, hotel fees, and competition fees.

Performances & Competitions

Performance
The Dance Company will attend 1-2 conventions/competitions per year as well as participate in the Winter Showcase and annual recital. We will also perform at the Great America Dance Fest, the Wisconsin State Fair, and various local performances at festivals and fairs.
